01From input to result
The process dictates the architecture.
MODULAR SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE
What Labsun connects into a workflow
Not a loose collection of individual devices: The modules are selected, tested, and connected based on the actual sample flow.
Herolab CENTRIFUGE TECHNOLOGY
RobotCen / SmartCen as a process module
Automated centrifugation is planned into the overall system to match the vessel, rotor, temperature requirements, and material flow.
- ✓ Loading and unloading in automated cells
- ✓ Process parameters and status monitoring
- ✓ Integration into material flow and control
Checkpoint: Vessel, rotor, temperature, material flow
LIQUID HANDLING
Dosing and Transfer
For defined volumes, reproducible transfers, and suitable liquid properties.
Checkpoint: Medium, volume, accuracy
SAMPLE HANDLING
Identify and transport
Vessels, racks, and sample paths are clearly guided and transferred to subsequent steps.
Checkpoint: Container, cycle time, traceability
SYSTEM INTEGRATION
Control and exchange data
Device states, process releases, and relevant data are consolidated in a common control sequence.
Checkpoint: Interfaces, rights, documentation
APPLICATION AREAS
Three examples. Always a different bottleneck.
The illustrations show exemplary application scenarios with product relevance to the Labsun, Herolab, and LabTech portfolios. The specific process design is only developed after process analysis.
PROJECT EXPERIENCE · 2020–2023
Customized cell production as a complete system
During this period, Labsun developed and built a customized, fully automated system for cell production. The example demonstrates the ability to integrate multiple process steps into a common system architecture.
Classification: The illustration is a conceptual representation of the customized complete system and integrates the real product form of the Herolab RobotCen FR. Project details, performance data, and customer name are not published here.
FROM IDEA TO SYSTEM
Four clear decision points
Each phase ends with a verifiable result. This makes it clear early on what is technically feasible and economically justifiable.
Process analysis
Record samples, volumes, throughput, quality criteria, and existing equipment.
Result: robust requirements profile
Feasibility / PoC
Specifically test critical manipulations, interfaces, and risks.
Result: Go, adjustment, or stop
Integration
Combine mechanics, control, safety, and data flow into one system.
Result: integrated system
Acceptance & Support
Review, document, hand over, and define ongoing support.
Result: agreed operating framework
QUICK PROJECT CHECK
Where does your process lose time today?
Four pieces of information are sufficient for an initial technical assessment. We check which process steps are suitable for automation and what information is still missing.

BRIEFLY EXPLAINED
Frequently asked questions before project start
Do I need a complete requirements specification before getting started?
No. For the initial project check, the process goal, sample type, container, throughput, and key quality requirements are sufficient.
Can existing equipment be integrated?
This will be checked on a case-by-case basis regarding interfaces, safety, process times, and manufacturer approvals.
Can a single centrifuge be automated as a standalone module?
Yes. Depending on the application, a single centrifuge module can be useful or serve as a starting point for a larger workflow.
